La Boqueria: A new tapas bar in old Montreal

Located on rue de la Commune in the Old Port of Montreal, the Boqueria offers affordable Spanish cuisine in a friendly atmosphere. On the menu, a wide variety of tapas to be enjoyed in the pretty room with around forty seats or on the vast terrace during the summer.

When La Boqueria was created, its owners, the same people behind the success of La Catrina, the Mexican restaurant next door, wanted to offer a restaurant with a festive atmosphere with dishes to share and which would stay open late into the evening. “With all the festivities and shows taking place in Old Montreal, a lot of people are looking to eat late at night,” says Emiliano Gonzalez Camarena, one of the co-owners. La Boqueria welcomes visitors every day from noon to midnight. A rarity in Montreal!

The menu, concocted by the talented chef of Colombian origin David Melo Rubio, offers many traditional tapas (Iberian ham croquetas, squid and fried artichokes, etc.), but also paellas to share, grilled meats, seafood ( we fell for the prawns confit in white wine!), ceviches and fish carpaccios. Enough to take your taste buds on a journey to the heart of Spain!

In addition, a beautiful cocktail menu imagined by Nectar and Mixologie (special mention to Marie-Laurence for the gin!) features revisited classics like the Jérez Colada, the Boquejito and a surprising sangria with red wine and mango. Night and day birds will be delighted!
